Cision vs PRisme (2026): Customer Reviews, Pricing and Contracts Compared

Cision is the long-standing reference in PR software, and several of the teams we interviewed in October 2026 use its Lucky database. A five-person agency described checkbox filters, a poorly kept taxonomy (defence filed under politics), natural-language search it found superficial, and outdated contacts. We built PRisme starting from those frustrations.
We make PRisme, so this is a competitor’s comparison. Everything we say about Cision comes from public sources listed at the bottom of the page, our survey and our interviews with PR agencies.

What Cision customers say
As of 25 October 2026, Cision has two Trustpilot profiles, both poorly rated:
| Profile | Rating | Reviews | 1-star reviews |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cision — cision.com | 1.6/5 | 33 | 85% |
| Cision France — www.cision.fr | 2.1/5 | 11 | 82% |
The same complaints come up again and again:
- An auto-renewal nobody saw coming. “Cision has an automatic renewal clause hidden in the fine print that is hard to see” (cision.com, February 2026). Same story in French: “beware of the tacit renewal hidden in the terms and conditions… you get a surprise invoice and there’s no going back” (Cision France, June 2022).
- Hard to cancel. Several customers describe cancelling by registered letter weeks before the deadline, and invoices of several thousand euros for a contract they no longer used.
- A 90-day notice period. A UK customer warns: “There is a 90 day cancellation policy or the contact automatically renews when the year is up” (cision.com, April 2024).
- Unreachable support. “You can no longer speak to a human” (cision.com, April 2026).
- Contacts you can’t find, or that are out of date. “Basic media contacts and main UK publications are not easily found on the platform” (cision.com, June 2025). Another customer reports a 25% bounce rate on a single press release (cision.com, April 2024).
These reviews are few, and Trustpilot doesn’t fact-check them. But they all tell the same story, and it’s the one PR teams told us too.
What PR teams told us
We surveyed 12 PR professionals from 5 to 27 October 2026. 9 out of 12 use Cision or Data Press. Across all answers:
| Difficulty mentioned | Answers |
|---|---|
| Journalists missing from searches | 8 out of 12 |
| Building lists is among the most time-consuming tasks | 7 out of 12 |
| Outdated contacts | 7 out of 12 |
| Hard to find the team’s past exchanges | 6 out of 12 |
Exploratory questionnaire, not a representative sample. Respondents often use several tools: these difficulties concern their toolset as a whole.
In our interviews, French agencies paid between €4,000 and €10,000 a year for Cision, excluding monitoring. One of them couldn’t send emails from Cision on its plan: it exported its lists and sent from its own email, with no tracking at all.
Price: $12,625 a year vs €99 a month
Cision doesn’t publish its prices. Real purchases tracked by Vendr give a median of $12,625 a year, on an annual contract. PRisme publishes its prices: Basic at €99/month, Solo Advanced at €149/month, Team at €399/month (3 users), billed monthly.
Point by point: what PRisme does differently
A contract you control. Monthly subscription, public prices, no forced annual commitment. You stay because the tool works for you, not because a clause holds you in.
Dedicated customer service that answers. Every PRisme client has their own contact. A journalist is missing from the database? You need more data on a sector or region? You want to open a new country? You ask a person who knows your account, not a form.
Up-to-date journalists you can check. 30,000+ verified press contacts in France, with a reliability indicator for each contact and their latest articles. You see who actually writes about your topic today, not just their job title.
Search that understands your story. News is often read from several angles: a health-tech funding round interests both the startup desk and the health desk. Describe those angles in one search, and PRisme finds journalists for each and explains every match.
Your team’s memory. Every exchange with a journalist is visible to the whole team, and PRisme warns you if someone already contacted them in the last 14 days.
Sending from your own mailbox. Each message starts from the journalist’s latest article, you review and approve it, then it goes out from your own address. Nothing is sent without your approval.
When Cision is still a good choice
To be fair: Cision keeps the edge if you need very broad international coverage, a newswire such as PR Newswire, or full media monitoring today. At PRisme, opening a new country is a request to your dedicated customer service and monitoring is coming soon.
For a team doing media relations in France that wants to find the right journalists, keep the memory of its exchanges and pay a clear price, PRisme is built for you. Book a demo.
